Welcome back to another edition of the King's Chronicle, and happy National School Bus Safety Week! John and the team have been hard at work on the campaign trail and we are excited to share more of what we've been up to.
With 2022 quickly approaching and much ground left to cover as we grow our movement, our team has been busy strategizing the best ways for our campaign to reach its full potential. To do that, we put together an October strategy survey— and we want to hear from you! This is a people-powered campaign, and every voice on this team should have a say in how we plan out the road ahead. So if you haven't already, please take a moment to share your input by clicking here to begin our quick survey. We look forward to reading your responses, and we can't wait to share them with John!
Thanks for all that you do, -Team King
STAND WITH SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS: As an integral part of the education system and some of the most compassionate members of our community, it's time school bus drivers got the recognition they deserve. So in honor of #NationalSchoolBusSafetyWeek, John and the team are standing up to demand higher pay and better benefits for Maryland school bus drivers. If you agree they should have better working conditions, click here to add your name to our petition today.

YAHOO NEWS: Former Education Secretary details the biggest challenge for kids after 2020 "I was a kid whose life was saved by school," said King, who is running for the gubernatorial office in Maryland. "Both my parents passed away when I was little, my mom, when I was eight, my dad, when I was 12, [and] if not for the relationships at school, I wouldn't be alive today. And so I worry a lot about kids who've been isolated from peers, from teachers."
JOHN KING RESPONDS TO GOVERNOR HOGAN'S “We have to build on the policing reforms passed by the state legislature and reimagine public safety. We should support mental health services and addiction treatment, build restorative justice programs that break cycles of incarceration, help returning citizens find housing and jobs, and invest in violence prevention groups like Safe Streets Baltimore.”
