In state after state, Republican state legislatures are systematically trying to make it harder to vote. It's despicable. They're preventing Americans from participating in our democracy. They're disenfranchising Black voters and entire communities without cause. And without action from Congress, there will be nothing to stop them.

But once again, Republicans in the Senate refused to do what's right and protect the core of our democracy. Sadly, that's no surprise. The GOP is back under the thumb of Donald Trump, who has worked from Day One to undermine democracy to the point of insurrection.

We have no alternative but to stay in the fight -- and we are going to. We are pushing forward with the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, a bill that would restore critical protections of the Voting Rights Act.
