Since 1973, at least 185 people across the country have been wrongly sentenced to death and exonerated. But for some, like Carlos DeLuna, the subject of the new Netflix documentary The Phantom, evidence of innocence emerged too late and a man was unjustly executed. The film tells Carlos’ story and paints a portrait of a grave injustice that can’t be undone.
