Hey John,

One man, all by himself, is standing in the way of President Biden’s climate agenda.

Let me translate that: One Manchin, all by himself, is blocking our last best chance to take on the climate crisis before it spirals completely out of our control.

I might not be running for Senator of West Virginia, but the more progressives we elect to Congress, the more power we’ll have to push back against Manchin (and fellow legislative brick wall Kyrsten Sinema) to pass actual solutions to address the climate crisis.

Specifically, Manchin is threatening to derail the Clean Electricity Program. This program would provide incentives for companies to move away from coal- and natural gas-powered electricity, helping to transition the power grid to renewable sources.

The solution isn’t to yell at Manchin or Sinema—and I’d take them over their Republican counterparts seven days a week—but this is what we have to do:

We have to elect more progressives who are willing to step up and fight the climate crisis with everything we’ve got.
