We’ve been hearing reports from the news media that key green energy and climate provisions might be cut from Joe Biden’s Build Back Better legislation. And the figure at the center of these proposed cuts is Senator Joe Manchin.

John — We have to meet this critical moment in history by passing legislation that substantially combats climate change. Will you sign onto our petition calling on Senator Joe Manchin to support keeping green energy provisions in the reconciliation infrastructure package? [[link removed]]

ADD YOUR NAME [[link removed]]At most risk is the Clean Electricity Performance Program (CEPP). The CEPP is an ambitious but achievable proposal that would supercharge our fight against climate change with green energy investments. It is designed to transition the U.S. power grid to use significantly more clean energy over the next decade. This could reduce carbon pollution by as much as 700 million metric tons (MMT) by 2030.

The CEPP is currently a part of the reconciliation infrastructure bill. But if Senator Joe Manchin doesn’t change his mind, it could be tossed out. That would mean that emissions are likely to be 250 to 700 MMT higher per year in 2030 than they could be, which represents a ⅓ of the total emissions reductions in the package.

John, this is our moment. Will you sign our petition calling on Joe Manchin to support the CEPP and climate change provisions in the reconciliation package? [[link removed]]
