Vice President Harris came to Nevada on Monday to visit Lake Mead. My fellow members of the Nevada congressional delegation and I were honored to show her around. Due to climate change, Lake Mead’s water has hit a record low and is causing droughts across much of Nevada.

The Vice President and I agree: we can no longer wait to take action against climate change. We have to act now and I need you on our side.

Lake Mead’s water level is at the lowest it has been since its creation in 1935. Our livelihoods, agricultural industry, economy and so much more rely on Lake Mead’s wellbeing.

Folks, this is exactly why I introduced the 'Large Scale Water Recycling Project Investment Act' which would aim to reverse Lake Mead's historically low water level. The legislation is included in the bipartisan infrastructure bill and would be a crucial step toward restoring Lake Mead.

As a Californian, Vice President Harris knows just how important Lake Mead is to folks across our region. We also have a shared commitment to advancing the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the Build Back Better agenda to protect Nevada’s water infrastructure against climate change.

It’s more important than ever for Democrats to step up and save our country from the disastrous effects of climate change. We simply cannot afford for drought to become the new normal.
