Dear John,
The right and opportunity to vote is one of the greatest strengths in our country, but it also faces some of the greatest risks in recent memory. From dark money in politics to voter suppression, our democracy has been under attack. The lack of substantive gun violence prevention legislation is a direct result of these flaws in our democracy. The Freedom to Vote Act would be a significant first step in protecting our democracy and fixing these flaws.
The American public overwhelmingly supports common sense gun laws, with nearly 90 percent of Americans supporting background checks for all gun buyers.
Interest groups like the NRA and conservative politicians, however, have slowly chipped away at the democratic process and stifled numerous gun violence legislation that would make communities safer.
