BREAKING: SENATE OBSTRUCTIONISTS FILIBUSTER THE FREEDOM TO VOTE ACT
John: we’re asking for your donation to fund our massive West Virginia pressure campaign demanding Senator Joe Manchin end the Senate gridlock by fixing the filibuster and passing the Freedom to Vote Act. Will you pitch in now and read more below about why this is so important?
Obstructionists in the Senate just filibustered the Freedom to Vote Act. This is the fifth time in 2021 they’ve blocked democracy reform, despite overwhelming popular support to save our political system.
And it’s not just democracy reform. The abuse of the filibuster on every issue has increased vastly over the past 20 years. The Senate no longer does its job: representing the people.
We can save democracy and restore the Senate. To do that, we have to convince Senator Manchin to fix the filibuster.
We’re planning a radio and digital ad blitz across Manchin's home state and activating veterans and small business owners to force him to take action.
To launch our West Virginia pressure campaign we need to raise $10,000 by Sunday at midnight. John: will you pitch in $10 right now?
We know Senator Manchin responds to the demands of his constituents: After initially avoiding voting rights reforms, we targeted Manchin with billboards earlier this year and he changed his tune. Now he's worked with fellow senators to introduce the Freedom to Vote Act, which would make Election Day a federal holiday, ban Congressional gerrymandering, and banish dark money.
But when democracy is on the line, sponsoring the bill isn't enough – he needs to make sure it becomes law. And after many attempts to bring obstructionists on board, it's clear there is only one way to pass this popular legislation: fixing the filibuster.
That’s why our new West Virginia pressure campaign is so crucial: Everything we’ve been fighting for is riding on Senator Manchin taking action. Will you pitch in just $10 now to support our campaign?
Every dollar counts,
