Hi Friend,
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. One of the tragic side-effects of the pandemic has been the correlative increase in domestic violence that has come along with it. And once firearms get involved, the abuse takes on even more dire implications.
This week, for Out in Front, guest host Amber Falgout, Battle Born Progress’ Northern Nevada Manager, will host a dialogue with experts on domestic violence and survivor support in Nevada. Serena Evans, Policy Coordinator, Nevada Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence, David Keck, Director of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and Firearms with the Battered Women’s Justice Program, and Tess Opferman, with the Nevada Women’s Lobby will speak about the scope of the issue in Nevada, domestic violence resources available statewide, and the intersection between robust gun violence prevention policy and curbing domestic violence.
Join us this Thursday, October 21 at 5:00PM on either Facebook Live, YouTube, or Twitch! We understand that this is a very difficult topic, so if you can’t tune in, we’d so appreciate your help spreading the word and sharing the link to your friends and family who might need resources or education. It being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we want to make sure that Nevadans all across the state have access to vital conversations like this one.
See you this Thursday,
