It’s been just a week since we launched our campaign for Senate. Since launching, two things stand out to me:
- The groundswell of support from fellow Iowans has been terrific and deeply appreciated. Thank you. You are the reason why I am running, friends.
- Our country and our state are facing some of the biggest challenges of my lifetime. Our current Senators representing Iowa are too busy with partisan bickering to deliver for the people of the Hawkeye state.
I was born and raised in rural Sioux County as the youngest of 9. My dad, “Big Joe,” came back from WWII wounded and his ship sunk. He showed me the value of hard work when he built his machine shop from his own hands in Lebanon. We would spend hours together working on farm equipment and trucks. There were very few pieces of John Deere farm equipment that we didn’t work on. Their products are exceptional because of the superlative workers who make them, many of whom I consider dear friends.
Where my dad’s tireless work ethic made ample opportunity for me and my siblings, it’s harder now than ever before. Over the weekend, I visited John Deere workers with Local UAW 450 in Ankeny demanding fair wages and benefits for their work to listen to their concerns and support their fight.
Hardworking families are struggling more and more to find stable footing in a system built against them. We need a leader in Washington who will cut through the partisan gridlock and deliver solutions to enhance the quality of life for all Iowans.
I will be a Senator for all of Iowa because there’s more that unites us than divides us.
So, thank you for your support. Together, we’re building the movement needed to send real leadership to Washington and represent Iowans in the US Senate.
V/r, Mike
After over 36 years serving in the United States Navy, Admiral Mike Franken is home to unseat Chuck Grassley and become the next Senator from Iowa. Chip in to his campaign today.
