Building power to enact the transformation we need...

Dear John,

In the coming days and weeks, decisions in Washington could fundamentally shift the trajectory of our nation. From Oak Flat to West Virginia to Washington DC, the Poor People's Campaign is on the move demanding nothing less than full investment in the three infrastructures of our nation, of our people and of our democracy.

On Friday we released a groundbreaking study about the power of poor and low-income voters in the 2020 elections that demonstrated that poor and low-income voters are the key to shifting the political terrain in this nation.

This past Monday at our National Town Hall, we heard directly from some of those voters, alongside policy experts and faith leaders about the need for a Third Reconstruction, a set of bold and visionary policies that will lift this nation from the bottom up.

We continue to organize the 140 million poor and low-income people in this country, building the necessary power to enact the transformation we so urgently need.

Join us this week either in-person or online at the Prayer Rally to Protect Oak Flat organized by the Apache Stronghold, at the Premiere of 'Soundtrack of the Struggle,' a filmed conversation on the power of music in social movement, and for a Moral Revival & Rally in West Virginia, that will also be streamed online.

Wednesday October 20th, 4pm PT / 7pm ET  – Protect Oak Flat Prayer Rally

Apache in Arizona will be in federal court this week to save their spiritual lifeblood and sacred site known as Oak Flat from being destroyed by a copper mine that would swallow their holy ground in a nearly 2-mile-wide crater deeper than the Eiffel Tower. If the court doesn’t intervene, the government will turn this historically protected land over to a foreign-owned mining company that will obliterate the sacred ground where the Apache conduct their most important religious ceremonies.

Members of Apache Stronghold, Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival and supporters will protest outside the courthouse during the virtual hearing. Join in person in San Francisco outside of the 9th Circuit Court or click below to tune into the livestream at 4pm PT / 7pm ET.

Thursday, October 21st, 7pm ET –

How do Manchin's cuts to the Build Back Better Plan hurt West Virginians?

Did you know that Sen. Joe Manchin’s proposal to slash the Build Back Better plan would cut the number of new jobs created in his home state of West Virginia by more than half?

The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival will hold a news conference at 10:30 a.m. ET Friday to present facts about how the Biden plan -- which polls show is enormously popular in West Virginia -- benefits poor and working people, children and the environment specifically in Manchin’s home state.
