Q: What do marathons and Congress have in common?

A: They both involve running! 

I know, I know, that was a dad joke. But, it’s true! (I’d appreciate it if you could look past that cheesy joke and chip in a quick donation to my campaign.)

But, seriously, folks, the Chicago Marathon took place earlier this month -- and it got me thinking about all the similarities between running in a race and running for Congress.

They both involve months and months of preparation, surrounding yourself with a supportive team, being ready for anything -- inclement weather in the case of running a race, attacks from Republicans if you’re running for Congress -- and they aren’t cheap.

Marathons involve registration fees and investing in the best running gear, and running for Congress involves paying staff, funding digital and television campaigns, and travel fees to reach constituents in person.

And just like you need to start training for a marathon in advance, campaigns need to start raising money well before Election Day. I know November 2022 seems far away, but in the grand scheme of things it’s really right around the corner -- and my team and I are counting on as early investments as possible to be ready for whatever the GOP throws at us.

Will you chip in today to make sure my team and I are prepared for running this race to Congress?
