My father was my hero.

He always told me that when “the cause is just, don’t stay on the sidelines. Get in there and fight for what you believe.”

My fighting spirit, my tenacity, my beliefs, I owe to my father, my hero.

And I know he’s watching me right now as his little girl steps up for the biggest fight of her life.

I want you to hear it directly from me: I’m running for Governor of Florida, because sitting on the sidelines is no longer an option, I have to fight for what I believe.

I’ve overcome my share of adversity.

Whether it be fleeing Colombia alone at a young age after a Marxist terrorist group kidnapped my father, coming to Alabama fighting to learn English and graduating college, or sending shockwaves through the state of Florida after becoming the first Latina elected to the state senate, after party bosses told not to run, that I couldn’t win.

I’ve been fighting my entire life. I never give up.

And that’s why I believe we can win this race. I know all about beating the odds, I’ve been doing it all my life, and will do it again.

But it’s going to take a herculean effort from grassroots supporters up and down our great state.
