John,

This month, we’ve seen the devastation caused by the fossil fuel industry with major oil spills in Texas and right here in southern California. That’s not to mention the increasing devastation caused by floods, wildfires, and drought. It’s clear, the time to act is now. Right now.

Twelve years ago, Democrats controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress. But we failed to make major changes to address the climate crisis, which has only intensified in the decade since — a decade that saw us lose the House, the Senate, and the White House. It was a major failure.

For a decade, we had to fight and claw our way back to finally gain the barest of Democratic majorities. We must not come up short again on climate this time around. We just can’t. We must save our planet before the worst effects of the climate crisis become too much to bear.

This is an existential crisis that affects every community, every state, and every country on earth. With a Democratic president and majorities in both chambers of Congress for the first time in a decade, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in clean, renewable energy and reassert American leadership on the global stage.

Add your name to my petition demanding the Senate include major investments in clean energy in the Build Back Better Act. We may not have another opportunity to act on climate before the midterms. The time to act is now. [[link removed]]

Every day we fail to take action on climate change brings us another day closer to an irreversible climate catastrophe. Indeed, we may already be there. We need to make bold investments in sustainable energy to save our environment for our children and grandchildren.

The reconciliation process is a rare opportunity to do just that. Right now, Democrats in Congress are in a unique position to take action on climate without obstruction from Mitch McConnell. We just need to have the political will to do the right thing.

If you agree it’s time for swift and aggressive action on climate change, please add your name to my petition calling for its inclusion in the Build Back Better Act now. It will only take a minute. [[link removed]]

Thanks for taking action on this important issue. I appreciate your voice.
