John,

Yesterday, Governor Walz and I officially announced that we’re running for a second term. The stakes of this election couldn’t be higher – and I’ll explain more in a moment. But first, I have an important request:
Will you make a contribution that works for you today and become a Founding Donor to our re-election campaign? We’re counting on 2,500 donors to step up in the first week to prove that our movement for One Minnesota is stronger than ever.

The last two years have tested us like never before – from COVID-19 to fighting for the soul of our country in a grueling presidential election to engaging in difficult but important conversations about systemic racism and justice.

Governor Walz and I have worked every day to keep the promises we made to Minnesotans. And despite the challenges we faced, we were able to deliver.

We provided historic investments in education, prioritized the well-being of working families, and made Minnesota one of the best states in the country to raise a child – all while balancing every budget and leading the region in our COVID-19 response and economic recovery.

But even as we worked towards these necessary goals, Republicans did everything they could to obstruct our progress.

With the entire world watching, the Minnesota Senate GOP refused to hold even a single hearing on police reform. They blocked common-sense gun safety measures, and in the middle of a pandemic, refused to pass paid family leave policies – forcing parents to choose between work and caring for a loved one.

Through the height of the pandemic, they pathologically downplayed the threat of COVID-19 and encouraged their supporters to ignore COVID safety measures. Again and again, they put politics before people and put lives at risk.

The choice is clear: We can keep moving forward together and rebuild stronger than ever before, or we can let Republicans take us back to the politics of fear, division, and conspiracy theories.

One Minnesota has always been about bringing people together because we know that when Minnesotans work across lines of difference, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish. As we launch our re-election campaign, pitch in to help us prove that we have never been more prepared to take on the tough fights ahead.

Miigwech. Thank you.

Peggy Flanagan
