We recently defeated the big banks in court — and secured a major victory for progressive revenue and tax fairness.

To address Washington’s regressive tax system that hurts the middle class, the Legislature passed a bank tax that applies to big banks making more than $1 billion in annual profits.

The big banks sued Washington State. They wanted to get out of paying this tax, and so they hired my predecessor to represent them, former Republican Attorney General Rob McKenna.

As Attorney General, it’s my job to defend this state law in court.

We won a unanimous 9-0 decision at the Washington Supreme Court.
