Welcome to the October newsletter! Grab a hot chocolate and get your agenda
out.

We are excited to announce great Green results in federal, regional and
mayoral elections last month! The German Greens had their best federal
election results yet, the Austrian Greens made gains in regional elections,
and we have secured more Green Mayors in major European cities like Milan.

Our Committee Members have also been busy traveling to discuss the Green
Recovery with local Green leaders, visiting Bulgaria, Poland and Greece. At
the same time, we are gearing up to kick the polluters out and ensure that
national plans reflect the Paris Agreement at COP26. We’re also sharing
our learnings from the European Ideas Lab [7] – where Green leaders and
changemakers discussed climate action and joined the Global Strike for
Climate Justice!

You can join the conversation on what a Green Recovery can look like
through the Green Screen [8], our project supporting the cultural sector
through films and debates. You can also tune in to conversations with Green
leaders and activists on our podcast the Green Talking Heads [9].

Registration is now open for the 34th European Green Party Council [10] in
Budapest, where we’ll be setting the Green agenda for the next 6 months.
We can't wait to finally meet you all in person once again!

34TH EUROPEAN GREEN PARTY COUNCIL

Hungary is at a turning point. Ten years of democratic backsliding and
gradual state capture by a ruling elite have harmed opportunities for all
citizens and proven to be an unsolvable puzzle for the European Union. But
there is hope! A united opposition is confidently heading towards the 2022
elections with the goal of restoring democratic standards, fighting
corruption, and rebuilding the social fabric.

Together, meeting for the first time in person since 2020, we will bring
diverse perspectives to bear on the fight against corruption. A plague only
too often experienced by Hungarian citizens with devastating consequences
for democracy as well as economic and social wellbeing. Green forces across
Europe have always been at the forefront of the fight against corruption
and we will support our Hungarian party and partners in strengthening their
action at home.

We look forward to sharing more information with you in the coming weeks.
We already encourage all Green party members and delegates to save the date
and join the fight to strengthen hope for a more democratic Hungary in
Budapest from 3 - 5 December 2021!

TIME FOR A 4-DAY WORK WEEK

Trials and studies show a 32-hour week for the same pay improves worker
well-being, the health of families, gender equality, pollution, employment
rates and more - and it even boosts productivity and efficiency in the
workplace.

TILT’s campaign demands that national governments follow Iceland, Spain,
Ireland and Scotland’s lead by initiating public dialogues, programs and
trials to work towards a strategy of reduced working hours, for the same
pay. Sign the petition subscribe for updates on our website [39]. [39]
