To truly embody NIAC's values of respect, engagement, and justice, we must create space for LGBTQ+ members of our community.

Hi John!

I just wanted to make sure you've reserved your spot for our panel on "Navigating Queer Identity in the Iranian-American community" taking place this Friday, October 22nd at 2pm ET/ 11am PT.

A discussion about Iranian-Americans' attitude toward the LGBTQ+ members of our community is long overdue. Supporting the civil rights of all Americans, as NIAC has pledged to do, means showing up, amplifying, and being good allies to ALL members of our community.

And to truly embody NIAC's values of respect, engagement, and justice, we must create space for LGBTQ+ Iranian Americans to share their stories and experiences, offer hope to all those on their own journeys, and impart lessons about how we can all be the best allies we can be. This is why I hope you'll join us on Friday.

The discussion will be moderated by our very own Assal Rad and feature insights from Dr. Sima Shakhsari (Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota), Shawndeez Jadalizadeh (PhD Candidate, Department of Gender Studies at UCLA), and Abdi Nazemian (award-winning author, screenwriter, and producer).

This event will truly be something special, so don't miss out and RSVP today.

Warmest,

Mana Mostatabi
Communications Director, NIAC
