Fair Sports for Women & Girls [[link removed]]
After passing the Protecting Girls' Sports Act five times in the Texas Senate, it is finally on its way to Governor Abbott's desk to be signed into law. This is a huge victory for girls' sports!
In Texas schools, the athletic statistics show the reality of sports competition — boys run faster, throw farther, and jump higher. So allowing boys to compete on girls' sports teams simply isn't fair.
This bill will protect girls' rights guaranteed under Title IX, a federal law that gives girls the same rights as boys to play sports. In Texas, we refuse to deny any woman or girl the right to compete on a level playing field and be the best in their sport.
Protecting girls' sports is just one of the many important issues parents have asked us to address that we have delivered on. We will not allow the Democrats to force our daughters and granddaughters to compete against boys in sports.
