KIRSTEN GILLIBRAND FOR NEW YORK

Friends,

Tomorrow, the Senate will vote on the Freedom to Vote Act: Our bill to protect voting rights, stop partisan gerrymandering, and fight the corrupting influence of dark money in politics.

Before I explain why this vote is so critical, I have to ask: Can you add your name to become a Citizen Co-Sponsor of the Freedom to Vote Act? We need to show every single Senator that the American people demand action on this legislation before it’s too late.

Since Republicans lost the White House and the Senate, they’ve been laser-focused on stacking the deck in their favor ahead of the midterm elections. They understand that the only way they win in 2022 is by casting doubt on the integrity of our elections, suppressing the vote, and gerrymandering congressional districts.

But let’s be clear, John: This isn’t about partisan politics. This bill is about protecting and strengthening our Democracy—and that’s something Democrats and Republicans should be able to get behind.

  • The Freedom to Vote Act will create a baseline national standard for voting access, combating the voter suppression bills passed in states like Texas and Georgia since the 2020 election. That includes requiring early voting nationwide, no-excuse mail-in voting, and making Election Day a federal holiday.

  • The Freedom to Vote Act will combat the partisan gerrymandering that enables politicians to select their voters—not the other way around.

  • And the Freedom to Vote Act will take meaningful steps to reform our nation’s broken campaign finance system.

BECOME A CITIZEN CO-SPONSOR OF THE FREEDOM TO VOTE ACT!

It’s on Congress to fight back, protect our democracy and dismantle the systems of voter suppression that have silenced too many Americans for far too long.

That’s why it’s so critical that you add your voice and become a Citizen Co-Sponsor today. We need to come together and demand government accountability, ethics and transparency.

Thank you for standing with us in the fight for democracy,

Kirsten
