WRI just launched the final synthesis report of the World Resources Report: Towards a More Equal City. The new report finds that 1.2 billion city dwellers worldwide lack access to basic services, like running water, sanitation, electricity and other amenities. It doesn’t have to be this way. In a new article, authors Maeve Weston and Robin King explain how seven cross-sectoral transformations can lift residents out of poverty while creating economic, environmental and social benefits for all. Green Investments Can Be Job Engines  

Dollar-for-dollar, climate-friendly investments — like clean energy, mass transport and ecosystem restoration — can create more jobs than investments in high-carbon sectors, according to new analysis by WRI. Why do green investments create more jobs? Joel Jaeger explains that activities like installing solar panels or energy efficient retrofits for buildings are labor intensive and hard to outsource. As more investment goes toward green infrastructure, it will be important to ensure these lead to high-quality jobs and support workers who need to shift into new opportunities. Read more
