Jack, the U.S. House and Senate are continuing negotiations between progressives and a small number of moderate holdouts on Biden's Build Back Better program.
Daily Kos readers and activists have already taken over 2 million actions calling on Democratic lawmakers to deliver a big, bold package that fights climate change, expands affordable health care, provides a pathway to citizenship, and pays for it all by having the rich and powerful pay their fair share. To quote then Vice President Joe Biden "this is a big f*cking deal."
As negotiations continue, now is the time to ramp up pressure on our lawmakers and demand that they not cut programs or weaken Build Back Better. With over two million actions already generated, we will not stop our relentless use of all the tools at our disposal to mobilize and connect Daily Kos readers and activists to take effective and immediate action.
As Michael mentions in the email below -- campaigns of this magnitude take a lot of work and cost us real money. That's why I am asking you to donate $5 right now to help fund this historic Daily Kos campaign.
Keep fighting,
Amanda McKay, Daily Kos
Jack, President Biden's Build Back Better program could be transformational. He needs 50 votes to pass it through the Senate. As he said at a press conference yesterday, he has 48.
Sens. Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema are the lone Democratic holdouts. We need to leverage overwhelming constituent pressure to bring them around to supporting the Build Back Better program. Thankfully, this is something Daily Kos does very well.
In September alone, Daily Kos moved over 350,000 readers and activists to send 1,773,597 letters to Congress. While these letters were on a variety of issues, most of them demanded Democrats deliver a big, bold Build Back Better Act that fights climate change, expands affordable health care, provides a pathway to citizenship, and pays for it all by having the rich and powerful pay their fair share. Even before September, we had moved more than half a million Daily Kos readers and activists to contact their members of Congress to get the Build Back Better program this far. That amounted to 977,900 letters sent and 27,693 calls made by constituents to their senators and congresspersons. That's to say nothing of text messages, rallies, and other actions. Believe me, Congress is hearing us—and we're not done yet.
Campaigns like this take a lot of work and they cost us real money. We have a dedicated team of organizers working to carry the Build Back Better program over the finish line, and the tools they need to activate people on this scale can cost tens of thousands of dollars a month. But it will be more than worth it when we win.
Can you chip in $5 right now to help offset the cost of Daily Kos's campaign?
Thank you,
Michael Langenmayr, Daily Kos
