John --
For far too long, foreign corporations and governments have used investment opportunities and board positions to gain influence and hold sway over American elected officials and their families. It may not be illegal, but even the possibility of improper influence is damaging to Congress and the White House.
Jared believes that there’s a common sense fix to this issue: Ban government officials and their families from making money from foreign businesses.
We want to hear from you: Do you agree that presidents and members of Congress should be banned from profiting off of foreign interests?
This month, Jared reintroduced the Stop Foreign Payoffs Act. If passed into law, this bill would bar government officials -- presidents, vice presidents, cabinet secretaries, members of Congress, as well as their close families -- from earning a salary from or holding an investment in foreign business as long as they are in office.
Thank you for letting us know where you stand,
Team Golden
P.S. We’re working around the clock to keep Jared in Congress fighting for the issues that matter most to the people of Maine’s Second District, but we can only do that with your help. If you’re able, will you chip in $5 to help Jared continue this important work in Washington?
