You Can Help Midwives Like Fitrotful
2021 Health Worker Support Campaign
==============================
Dear Friend,
Every day is a chance to help and heal people for Fitrotful, a Project HOPE-supported midwife in rural Indonesia. I am truly in awe of heroes like Fitrotful who get up every day and care for new moms and babies in difficult circumstances. Repeated earthquakes, tsunamis and now the COVID-19 pandemic have wreaked havoc in her country.
Your gift to Project HOPE's new Health Worker Support Campaign helps more heroes like Fitrotful protect and save lives in communities where access to care has become even more limited in the last 18 months.

Besides saving lives around the globe from disease and disaster, you'll help provide doctors, nurses and other medical workers with the resources they need to care for themselves and their communities.
Here's a typical day in the life of our heroic health workers, like Fitrotful:
==============================
A Day in the Life of a Health Worker
Supported by Your Generosity
7 AM Starting the Day
Thanks to the training you've received from Project HOPE, you feel prepared for any crisis -- and face the work ahead with hope and determination to care for your community.
10 AM Major Crisis Hits
An emergency disrupts your already hectic day. You and your colleagues rush to help. You work fast, but it feels impossible to keep up.
Soon after Fitrotful received training from Project HOPE on neonatal asphyxia -- a condition that happens when a baby doesn't receive enough oxygen when born -- she had to put her new skills to the test: "I was feeling panic about the baby's state, but thanks to the training, I felt calm and confident in taking care of the case," Fitrotful said.
4 PM Exhaustion Kicks In
You are treating patients in hallways and waiting areas. You haven't had a break or anything to eat. Your feet hurt, and your head is pounding, but so many people need help. You press on.
Midwives like Fitrotful see up to 15 mothers a day in rural health clinics, in addition to holding wellness checks in villages, visiting new mothers and their newborns and responding to any emergencies.
7 PM Physically and Emotionally Exhausted
It's time to go home, but your colleagues who are still on the clock are struggling. You see a few more patients to help out before going home. You'll get a few hours of sleep after winding down. Tomorrow you'll do it all again.
==============================
The worldwide shortage of 7 million skilled health care workers like Fitrotful is now significantly worse due to the pandemic.
The best way you can help close the gap and build a healthier, more equitable world is by making your gift now. With your support, you will train more doctors, nurses and midwives and help continue all our lifesaving work around the world.
With appreciation,
Rabih Torbay
