Facebook is once again trying to rehab their image, using band-aids to fix bullet wounds. Explosive new whistleblower testimony revealed Facebook the company chose profits over our children’s well-being. They knew, and chose to ignore, the damaging effects Instagram has on teen girls.
After a public outcry, they’ve come out with a slew of mediocre new controls for kids on its platform, although experts doubt their effectiveness.
It’s too little too late. Instagram is not suitable for kids, no matter how you slice it. Facebook must stop developing Instagram Kids now!

Whenever Facebook is inundated with bad press, they put out press releases announcing “new policies” to protect users from harmful information online instead of fixing the root of the problem. But what do those policies mean to us ordinary users when Facebook is known to show VIP users special treatment?
How do we trust new Facebook policies when Facebook themselves doesn’t follow them? Every solution they come up with is inadequate and inefficient. Meanwhile, our children are growing up with morphed body images, misinformation, and toxic online culture.
Facebook paused its development of Instagram for kids, but that’s not enough. We can’t trust them to put out a safe product for our kids. That’s why we must demand that Facebook stop developing Instagram Kids altogether, now!
