Born and raised in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, Summer is a longtime advocate for a strong labor movement, guaranteed health care for every person in the country, and an end to America’s reliance on fossil fuels. She made history in 2018 when she unseated a 20-year incumbent in PA’s State House and became the first Black woman to represent Southwestern Pennsylvania in the state legislature.

Summer is committed to representing every single community in her district, Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District, because so many have been ignored for so long.
