A new WILL study of the impact of a 2018 federal intervention in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) on school discipline policy finds suspensions dramatically fell while more students reported feeling unsafe at school. The evidence suggests that when policymakers force a top-down solution to reduce racial disparities in school suspensions, it is school safety that is being sacrificed as a result.

WILL submitted an amicus to the U.S. Supreme Court, on behalf of former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, urging the high court to take a press freedom case in Wisconsin. John K. MacIver Institute v. Evers presents the court with a critical dispute over the power of state actors to curtail press freedom by picking and choosing which press outlets receive access to briefings on matters of public importance.
