John,

It’s been a busy October so far here on Team Bishop! As we move closer to the 2022 election and I continue traveling across Montana to meet with folks, I wanted to reach out and share some updates from the campaign trail with you.

First, I kicked off the month by marching and speaking at the March for Reproductive Rights in Helena against the nationwide attacks on reproductive choice and Governor Greg Gianforte’s assault on Montanans’ constitutional right to an abortion. I have been voting against bogus abortion bills since 2017, and I’m committed to keeping up the fight in Congress.

I was honored to get a tour of the new Family Promise Facility in Bozeman, an incredible project that will support homeless families for years to come. I also got to celebrate Montana State University’s Homecoming (go Cats!). I have so much love for this community and these people.

Last week, I had an amazing experience honoring Montana’s first people. On Monday, I celebrated Indigenous Peoples’ Day with my friends at Western Native Voice, then I paid tribute to the contributions American Indians have made to our state and country on Peets Hill.

I also joined Montana State faculty and community members for the grand opening of the university’s new American Indian Hall, a place for students to grow academically and spiritually for decades to come.

Yesterday, we kicked off our Building Back Better Community Tour in Anaconda and Butte! Thank you to the community members and small business leaders who met with me and took the time to share the gems that make your communities special.

The opportunity to travel across this beautiful state, meet wonderful people, and listen to communities’ needs and concerns is such an honor. Thank you to everyone who has shared their vision for Montana with me so far. There is so much at stake this election cycle, and it’s the folks who show up and take the time to engage with their community who will make the difference in November.

Together, we’re building a truly people-powered campaign that I know can rise up against our far-right opponent and his corporate-fueled war chest, and win in 2022.

Thanks for being by my side in our journey to give Montana the leadership we deserve in Washington!

— Laurie
