Hey,

When the Cuyahoga River caught fire in June of 1969, it wasn't the first time. It wasn't even the first river to catch fire in the United States.

Eighteen years earlier, Milwaukee's Lincoln Creek caught fire in 1951 -- three years after Congress passed the Federal Water Pollution Control Act in 1948.

Disasters like these proved that existing laws and enforcement mechanisms didn't go far enough, and helped provide the momentum to pass the Clean Water Act.

And now, nearly 50 years later, some of our waterways are still dangerously polluted -- and getting worse. Agricultural runoff and forever chemicals like PFAS have poisoned water supplies. Cities and towns across the Nation are paying more and more to clean water piped into our homes, and people in cities like Flint still don't have access to safe drinking water.

Today, on the 49th anniversary of the Clean Water Act, it's clear that our government must do more to prioritize clean water for all.

If you agree, will you join Bob in calling for full enforcement of the Clean Water Act? Add your name now.

Even in Pennsylvania, where our environmental rights amendment continues to grant us all "the right to clean air, pure water, and to the preservation of the natural, scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment," water pollution has a significant impact on our lives.

We need to make enforcement of the Clean Water Act a priority now so we can continue to make progress in this administration, as well as the next and beyond.

Today, Bob and our team are calling for full enforcement of the Clean Water Act so our children and grandchildren can have access to the safe, clean water they deserve. Will you join us?

Thank you for committing to a cleaner, safer future for generations to come,

Team Casey
