Team,

The Clean Water Act was passed 49 years ago to protect our drinking water, but the fight to guarantee clean water for every American is far from over.

Communities across the country continue to struggle with PFAS, harmful chemicals that contaminate our water supplies. Right here in New Hampshire, communities like Merrimack and on the Seacoast are struggling with PFAS contamination in public and private water wells.

The Trump Administration rolled back critical environmental protections that keep people healthy and safe. President Biden reinstated many of these regulations to protect our environment, and earlier today the EPA announced it would move to limit a class of chemicals that has been linked to cancer and is found in drinking water. While these moves are a good start, we still have more work to do to guarantee clean drinking water for all.

Earlier this year Chris introduced the Clean Water Standards for PFAS Act to regulate harmful PFAS chemicals, hold polluters accountable, and help communities upgrade water systems. These provisions were included in the Bipartisan PFAS Action Act which passed the House in July, but the Senate has yet to take action.

Clean water is our most critical resource, and we can't afford to sit by and let corporations continue to pollute our water supply. We need the Senate to pass legislation to protect drinking water for every American for years to come.

On the 49th anniversary of the Clean Water Act, will you add your name to demand the Senate take action to protect our drinking water?

Thank you,

Team Pappas
