Republicans in the North Carolina legislature just released preliminary Congressional maps as part of the redistricting process.

Unsurprisingly, they are trying to pass another extreme partisan gerrymander — even worse than the existing set of districts.

It is unjust, unfair, and not how democracy should work. That’s why we need a senator who will fight to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and end partisan gerrymandering. I will do just that, but first, I need your help to win this race.

Sadly, we’ve come to expect these games from North Carolina’s elected Republican officials. These are the same folks who created the infamous voter suppression legislation that a court found “targeted African-Americans with almost surgical precision.”

While on the NC Supreme Court I spoke out against the gerrymandering process, and in the Senate I will continue to call out these anti-democratic efforts that violate both the U.S. Constitution and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. And I will take action to stop it.

That’s why it’s so important that Democrats expand our Senate majority in 2022, and North Carolina’s Senate race is one of our best opportunities to do just that.
