AUSTIN, Texas – We did it! With your help the Save Women's Sports bill, HB 25, received final approval by the Texas House on Sunday. All the hard work finally paid off and the bill is headed to Governor Greg Abbott's desk for his signature! HB 25, authored by Rep. Valoree Swanson and Senator Charles Perry, makes it clear that everyone plays by the same rules. Biological boys cannot compete in girls' sports. The birth certificate nearest at birth is used to decide if a student plays in girls' or boys' sports. In addition to the thousands of hours of meetings, press conferences, phone calls, and research, the Texas Values policy team collectively testified over 25 times in public hearings on this issue alone and has tracked over 55,000 messages to Texas lawmakers in support of our bill to ensure fair play in girls' athletics. Governor Greg Abbott placed this issue on each of the three special sessions he has called, and the Texas Senate, led by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, passed bills during all three special sessions to protect girls' sports. This time, the Texas House passed HB 25 as well and the bill was able to cross the finish line. We are grateful for your continued support of the Texas Values team which make these victories possible. Please consider donating today to ensure that we can continue fighting for faith, family, and freedom in Texas. |
