In 2016, Russia used Facebook to influence the outcome of the presidential election.

They got away with it because there's no law requiring disclosure of who's behind online advertisements.

That needs to change.

The Honest Ads Act would require platforms to disclose the purchasers of ads, applying the same rules that exist for TV and radio.

This would be a major step to protect our elections.
