John—
Hey— it’s Sina from NIAC. Six years ago was the official adoption of the Iran nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA. It was the most significant non-proliferation accord ever signed which put Iran's nuclear program under the most stringent monitoring and verification system ever seen.
This deal was historic, and it was integral to thawing relations with Iran, de-escalating tensions in the Middle East, and preventing an arms race in the region that would have catastrophic impacts. The Iran deal set the stage for more peace and diplomacy in the future.
Sadly, just a few years after the JCPOA was inked, Trump chose to withdraw from the landmark accord. The maximum pressure campaign that Trump imposed continues to this day, leading to rising tensions in the region, political assassinations, bellicose rhetoric, degraded U.S. credibility, and even twice bringing the U.S. and Iran to the brink of war.
We only have a few weeks until the Vienna talks resume, and this may be our last chance to pressure Biden to engage with Iran in good faith and prioritize diplomacy over sanctions and war. We know that for as long as sanctions continue as they have, civilians will bear the brunt under the weight of a humanitarian crisis.
NIAC is committed to advocating for reform, and we know there is a lot that can be done between now and Vienna to increase pressure on the Biden administration. Our team is organizing meetings with key officials, meeting with lawmakers to urge for diplomacy.
All of this takes strong investments from supporters like you who care deeply about making sure we see this through. Can we count on you to rush a donation today so we can get across the finish line?
