John, lift your voice after World Food
Day.[link removed]

LEAD THE WAY

ACT NOW

Dear John,

Did you know that food systems generate more than one-third of all
man-made greenhouse gas emissions? Research also shows that food
produces the equivalent of two tons of carbon dioxide emissions per
person each year.

Although wealthier nations produce more of these gases, our sisters
and brothers around the world are affected the most by the impact on
climate change.

You can make a difference today by joining us in building a _climate
for change._

TAKE ACTION NOW

Last Saturday was World Food Day. Consider the coffee beans grown in
El Salvador, the cocoa beans grown in Ghana and the pineapples
exported from the Philippines. Add in your trips to restaurants and
grocery stores and all the distribution and manufacturing in
between--our food consumption is having an impact on our planet. As
stewards of creation, we are called to care for our common home.

Catholic Relief Services is partnering with young people and farmers
throughout Central America to implement agricultural practices that
help restore the land and yield more crops. These
environmentally-friendly techniques are helping to address hunger,
malnutrition and climate change.

For this innovative programming to continue and expand so that more
farmers can benefit, your voice is needed to urge Congress to include
foreign aid in the federal budget.

This funding is critical to address the root causes of hunger and the
consequences of climate change.

LIFT YOUR VOICE

Thank you for helping to protect and care for our global family and
planet!

Prayerfully,

Catholic Relief Services and the United States Conference of Catholic
