Republicans and Democrats in Virginia are having a hard time drawing nonpartisan lines for Virginia’s new Congressional districts -- and some are even speculating that a compromise won’t be reached.

This means we still don’t know what our district looks like -- which makes it impossible to know where Elaine should be spending the most time and energy campaigning.

And even more concerning -- if a compromise isn’t reached, the maps will be turned over to Virginia’s conservative Supreme Court -- they’ll likely draw the maps to favor Republicans, making Elaine’s job of holding her seat even harder.

I can’t emphasize enough how important early investments are to our campaign.

Last election cycle, Republicans spent $3 million against Elaine -- and having a strong foundation going into the election was key to fighting back against the GOP propaganda machine and dark money donors.

Not only do we have to prepare for an avalanche of outside spending from Republicans in our race, we also have to prepare for the possibility that the makeup of our district will change. That means we’ll need to spend more time and resources in places we haven’t campaigned in before.
