When I was growing up, hard work meant something.

We respected the 40-hour work week, and when people went the extra mile -- it meant you got overtime pay and a little further ahead.

Hardworking Michiganders deserve fair wages. That's why I've taken historic action to expand the right to overtime pay for nearly 200,000 Michigan workers.

President Obama's overtime rule proposal was designed to make workers earning up to $47,476 eligible for overtime pay. But Donald Trump gutted that proposal -- leaving nearly 200,000 hardworking Michiganders behind.

I am fighting to ensure we close this gap and make Michigan a place of opportunity for all working families.

Extending the right to overtime pay will strengthen our economy and local businesses while lifting thousands of Michiganders out of poverty and into the middle class.

If you agree that hardworking Michiganders deserve overtime pay for the hours they're putting in -- add your name here:

Our workers have earned it and our economy needs it.

Let's get it done,

Gretchen Whitmer
