Happy Monday! Our big news is that Heritage named a new president to take over when Kay C. James steps down later this year. Dr. Kevin Roberts is an educator, an academic, and a think tank leader who will lead Heritage into the future. Meantime, we show how the Biden administration is creating job shortages, and how the president’s tax plan will hit families making far less than $400,000. We will also be hosting an event this week honoring Justice Clarence Thomas’ 30 years on the Supreme Court. There are other events, podcasts, and more featured below.

Introducing Heritage’s Next President, Dr. Kevin Roberts
The Heritage Foundation announced that Dr. Kevin Roberts will become the seventh president in the 48-year history of America’s premier conservative institution, succeeding President Kay C. James later this year. “Kevin has an entrepreneurial spirit and a deep enthusiasm for conservative solutions, and he will bring with him a different perspective as a D.C. outsider,” said Barb Van Andel-Gaby, chairman of Heritage’s Board of Trustees. Learn more about Roberts and the experience he brings to Heritage. Watch this video of his remarks to Heritage staff. See what others are saying about his selection. Vaccine Mandates Aren’t Biden’s Only Job-Killing Scheme
America has an employment problem and the Biden administration’s push for vaccine mandates is playing a significant role in it. But according to Heritage senior fellow Doug Badger, that’s not the only way the administration is killing jobs. He writes that blame for today’s job shortages also rests with “an untested array of monetary and fiscal interventions that were enormous in scope and whose unintended consequences are only now becoming evident.” Read the full commentary to find out what else is increasing unemployment.

Biden’s Taxes Hit Americans at the Top and Bottom
President
Joe Biden claims that his massive “Build Back Better” plan will be paid for by “corporations and those at the very top.” In reality, it won’t just be the wealthy who bear the cost of this spending spree, according to Heritage senior policy analyst Preston Brashers. “The taxes in the plan would hit low and middle-income Americans with diminished savings, lost jobs, lower wages, higher prices, and more taxes,” Brashers writes in his latest commentary. Read the full commentary to find out how and why Biden’s tax plan could affect you.
