North Central London Community Mental Health Summit [[link removed]]

Click here to join the summit [[link removed]] from 2.30pm to 4pm on Wednesday 10 November.

Help shape new neighbourhood mental health services at the first Community Mental Health Care Summit.

Join this online event for service users, carers and residents to learn how they're recruiting hundreds of new frontline staff and expanding mental health services to make it easier for you and your loved ones to get the right care and support when you need it.

‘The pandemic has reinforced the importance of looking after our mental health,” said Deputy CEO Darren Summers, who leads North Central London’s programme to transform community mental health care.

‘Over the next three years, we’re investing millions of pounds and recruiting hundreds of new frontline workers to boost our local community mental health services including those offered by the NHS and voluntary sector. We want to make it easy for everyone to get help early so they can recover sooner, stay well and improve their quality of life.

‘As we emerge from the pandemic, we’re asking service users, carers and residents to join this online summit to help us shape this new vision for NHS mental health care across north London. This vision will guide our roll out of new neighbourhood mental health services in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington.”

'Work has been therapy for my mental health'

An estimated 280,000 people in the UK are living with a severe mental illness, defined as a psychological problem so debilitating that it severely impairs their everyday activities. That can include severe depression as well as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Many in that category might not feel ready for paid employment. Others though would like to gradually return to the workplace. Surveys from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) suggest more than half would take a job if they were offered one.

Let's Talk About Creativity & Mental Health w/ Sanctus's James Routledge, Tuesday 19 October, 7.00 - 8.30pm

Sometimes life goes swimmingly well but sometimes... we experience fear, self doubt, anxiety. We worry that we won't be good enough, that we might let others down. We might struggle with our mental health.

How might we address these feelings?

If anyone has experience of this, it's James Routledge. In 2016 James had a breakdown after shutting down his first business. Not having anyone he could talk to, he wrote a blog post about it which went viral. This was the inception of Sanctus, an organisation focused on helping people and workplaces consider mental health like they might consider physical health.

Hear from James about lessons learnt from coaching over 10,000 employees on how to improve their mental wellbeing, how to determine when to push forward in our work and when to step back, and how writing can aid our mental health.
