President Trump Shares Sally Pipes' Washington Examiner Column with Millions on Social Media
President Donald Trump Shares Sally Pipes Column
This week, President Donald J. Trump shared the latest Washington Examiner column authored by PRI President, CEO, and Thomas W. Smith Fellow in Health Care Policy Sally C. Pipes with his more than 24 million Facebook followers.
In her op-ed, Pipes turns Sanders argument on it's head: "Long waits for substandard care — that’s the “cruel” and “dysfunctional” reality of government-run healthcare." (Click here to read the op-ed.)
Commenting on Pipes' column, the President said:
"Bernie talks about how great Canada's healthcare system is. But, Canadians face some of the longest waits for medical care ever (sometimes 45 weeks). This is what happens when government takes over healthcare. This is the future Bernie wants."
The post has received nearly 13,700 likes and nearly 5,700 comments, and has been shared nearly 3,300 times.
This is the second time President Trump has acknowledged Pipes' writing on single-payer healthcare. The President shared a Fox News column with his Facebook followers in August 2019, underscoring how effective Pipes and PRI scholars have been in educating the country about the dangers of a so-called "Medicare-for-All" system.
In September, Pipes won an Intelligence Squared debate in front of a live audience in New York City. Pipes and her debate partner Nick Gillespie, editor of Reason Magazine, won the arguing against the adoption of Medicare-for-all.
In May 2019, Sally Pipes joined Mark Levin for an in-depth discussion of single-payer health care on "Life, Liberty, and Levin" on Fox News Channel. Her appearance was the #1 program in cable news the evening it aired.
Other highlights include Pipes as a guest panelist on Fox Nation's "Deep Dive" with Steve Hilton in June, making the case against Medicare-for-All. She also debuted a new weekly column at FoxNews.com focusing on single-payer healthcare. Pipes also made the case against government-run health care at a major forum in Washington, DC hosted by the Heritage Foundation, which was televised nationally on C-Span in July.
In January, Encounter Books will publish Pipes' latest book, False Premise, False Promise, which will make the definitive case against single-payer health care using examples from her native Canada and countries around the world to show how it would lead to massive tax hikes, lower health care quality, increased wait times, and reduced access to doctors and specialists.
The stakes have never been higher as the Democratic presidential candidates continue to aggressively pursue single-payer health care plans and the elimination of private health insurance.
Your generous support of our Center for Health Care will ensure that PRI will continue to be a leading national voice advocating for free-market health care reforms and warning the American people about the dangers of Medicare-for-All.
