John,
Good afternoon and welcome to our Weekend Update.
This week, the far-left Democrat House voted to increase the debt ceiling. I voted against the measure and spoke out against their efforts to increase our debt. It's reckless and an attempt to continue their push for a radical $5 trillion government spending package. They are pursuing a reconciliation bill as part of the Biden administration’s Build Back Better agenda, which will lead to higher taxes and lower wages crippling Main Street USA. There is no way to sell the Democrats’ disastrous tax and spend agenda to the American people, no matter how hard they try.
I joined Newsmax’s Wake Up America to discuss the Democrats’ plans to push through their $5 trillion spending plan as a means of implementing their socialist, big-government agenda. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.

Two years ago, the U.S. was energy independent, and now we are relying on other nations and now are forced to pay 42% more for gasoline because of Biden’s anti-American energy policies. I joined House Republican leadership and other members of Congress in sending a letter to the Biden administration asking them to stop begging OPEC to increase their oil production and take the federal government’s knee off the neck of our domestic energy producers. Click here <[link removed]> to read.
Biden’s war on fossil fuels and domestic energy production, his $1.9 trillion stimulus package that disincentives work, Covid-19 mandates, and an over-reliance on manufacturing in China (where the Covid-19 pandemic began) have contributed to massive inflation and major disruptions to our nation’s supply chain.
I joined Fox Business’s Market Money with Charles Payne to discuss the Biden administration and the Democrats doubling down on the same failed agenda that is leading to the supply chain disaster. Click here <[link removed](Internal+-+Video+-+Video)#sp=show-clips> or below to watch.
On Saturday, I joined the great Larry Kudlow, the former Economic Council of the United States, on WABC radio to further discuss the supply chain issue and the Biden administration’s continued failure. Click here <[link removed]> or below to listen.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: The Biden administration was forced to reverse change strategy to address the crisis they created at the southern border.
It was announced on Friday that they are now reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy. As I recently highlighted in an op-ed printed in the Wilkes Barre Times-Leader <[link removed]>, Biden’s disastrous decisions are directly to blame for the crisis we see at our southern border. Customs and Border Patrol is experiencing a historic surge of migrants from South America, Central America, and Haiti who see an open door at the U.S. border. They know Joe Biden’s policies will protect them after entering the United States illegally. There have already been 1.2 million illegal immigrants who have entered our nation under the Biden administration in just the past ten months.
This is an issue that President Trump had addressed by implementing commonsense policies that addressed the situation at the southern border.
First, President Trump made it clear to the world that illegal immigration would not be tolerated. As a nation of immigrants, I support efforts to streamline the immigration process. However, there must be a thorough process in place to ensure each immigrant loves our nation and is coming here for the right reasons. One of the most effective policies the Trump administration implemented was the “Remain in Mexico” policy. That meant those attempting to cross our borders illegally were made to remain in Mexico as they awaited their U.S. asylum hearing. It was far more effective than the catch and release policy that has led to record surges of illegal immigrants and deadly drugs crossing the border.
As you remember, Biden condemned the “Remain in Mexico” policy during the campaign and promised to end it.
Unfortunately, that decision led to record numbers of illegal immigrants crossing the border. See graph below.
Now, the Biden administration is reimplementing the “Remain in Mexico” policy.
This bad decision, made for purely political reasons, had a tremendous impact on our national security as criminals and illegal drugs flood our country. This terrible decision not only is putting our security at risk, but it has cost our nation money and lives.
This week, we traveled to Allegheny County to serve as the Plum Republican Buffet to support our GOP candidates. It was a great event, and I want to thank those who organized and invited me to attend. (Pictured below with Plum GOP Chair Steve Schlauch, Commonwealth Court Stacy Wallace, and former RCAC Vice Chair Dave Majernik)
We are now just over two weeks away from Election Day. As I have stressed many times, we must elect our Republican candidates for statewide judge, Supreme Court candidate Judge Kevin Brobson, Superior Court candidate Megan Sullivan, and Commonwealth Court candidates Judge Kevin Brobson and Stacy Wallace.
Additionally, with many local elected offices up for grabs, it is critical Republicans get out the vote to fight against the radical far-left agenda being employed and spreading from Washington and Harrisburg to many of our local communities.
Lastly, I wanted to point your attention to a statement I released earlier this week. After careful thought and consideration, I announced my intention to seek another term representing you in the United States Congress. While I am greatly humbled by the support and encouragement I received to run for governor for our great Commonwealth, the right decision for me is to continue my public service representing our district in Washington.
I am deeply concerned about the far-left radical agenda being led by the Biden administration and Speaker Pelosi. We have an opportunity to win back Congress and retire Speaker Pelosi for good. I want to be part of that effort. However, that does not diminish in any way my desire for a Republican to win control of the governor’s office in Harrisburg. I will work tirelessly to help support that effort because I truly believe in the greatness of Pennsylvania.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
