Goal: 5,000 signatures to the Senate today? ? ? ? VOTE IMMINENT: TELL CONGRESS TO PASS THE FREEDOM TO VOTE ACT
This is egregious: Across the country, states are introducing new laws intended to disenfranchise voters of color, low-income communities, and young people. We won't let this stand ? we must uphold the right to vote for everyone ? our democracy is on the line.
Here's the good news: The House recently passed the most comprehensive voting rights expansion since the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965. But, it is now being obstructed in the Senate under the archaic filibuster role. The Senate is holding a vote on the Freedom to Vote Act ON WEDNESDAY ? will you speak up and demand your senators do whatever it takes to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and help stop voter suppression?
Send a message to Congress today. GOAL: 5,000 signatures today ? [link removed] ? SIGN NOW [link removed] ? ? ? ? ? Friend ? Leader Schumer just announced that the Senate will vote THIS WEDNESDAY on critical voting rights reform.
An overwhelming majority of voters want to see meaningful action on climate and clean energy. But these critical voices are at risk of being silenced at the ballot box as extreme state legislatures introduce more and more voting restrictions, aimed at disenfranchising the very same communities the climate crisis impacts the most.
The Freedom to Vote Act would expand voting rights, and address gerrymandering, and limit corporate polluter money in politics.
It will only become a reality though if the senate hears from you. We need to make sure your senators know that their constituents support the passage of the Freedom to Vote Act ? and expect them to fight to protect democracy, civil rights, and voter protections for all.
Will you be one of the 5,000 people we need today to demand that Congress pass the Freedom to Vote Act and protect voting and civil rights nationwide? Time is short ? email your senators now ? [link removed]
There is simply no path to a just, clean energy future without ensuring everyone can vote in free and fair elections.
The same communities targeted by voter suppression ? people of color, young people, low-income communities ? face the highest burden of environmental harms that threaten our air and water, along with disproportionate impacts from climate change. Without their free and fair representation in elections, our democracy, and the future of our communities and climate, is at stake.
Thankfully the Freedom to Vote Act will protect these at-risk communities' right to vote, as well as: Expand access to early voting and voting by mail to all statesNeutralize partisan and racial gerrymanderingMake Election Day a federal holidayIncrease campaign finance transparency and decrease the power of special interestsAll together, these changes will help make sure our country continues to hold free and fair elections where everyone has a say in the most important issues that impact their lives.
We can't let a small group of senators representing a minority of voters, big polluters and other moneyed interests block this progress. If we all speak up together, we can make clear to our representatives that voting rights MUST be protected. That's why right now, we need your help to reach our goal of 5,000 signatures on our petition before the Senate votes on Wednesday, so Congress hears us and acts.
Tell your senators to pass the Freedom to Vote Act today ? [link removed]
Thank you for speaking out for our voting rights and our democracy.
