Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

This week, I was home in Arizona continuing to recover from my gallbladder surgery. The good news is that I am feeling better, and I even attended a hearing in the House Energy and Commerce Committee this week.

Energy and Commerce Committee

This week, I attended a hearing in the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce on the importance of securing the American supply chain. I questioned witnesses about the ongoing issues with our supply chain and policies that exacerbate them—like increasing reliance on foreign production and instituting laws that deter domestic production. I also shared my concern about the Democrats' proposal to subsidize some industries over others. Their proposal may actually make the supply chain problems worse. For example, Democrats want to spend billions of our taxpayer dollars to subsidize a rapid change to all-electric vehicles. Since all-electric shipping trucks can only drive 200 miles between charges and diesel trucks, 1,500 miles, this would make the supply chain problems worse. Watch my full remarks in the committee below!

Legislative Update

This week, I joined Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) to urge President Biden to reverse his anti-American energy policies and empower American energy producers instead of foreign energy producers. Relying on foreign energy goes against America’s interest. By eradicating barriers to domestic production of oil and natural gas, and its infrastructure, we will enhance our national security, improve the economy, and create jobs, all while reducing energy prices for American families. We must look at domestic energy solutions to tackle fuel shortages and rising gasoline prices.

GET THE FACTS: Biden's Economic Crisis

As you may have heard, inflation has increased 5.4 percent since last year—following unprecedented levels of government spending. This puts the United States at our highest inflation level in 13 years. The price of gasoline alone has risen by 42 percent. Working-class families in the United States are spending more and their wages are being eroded every day. Americans are paying the price for the Democrats’ out-of-control spending.
