The first draft of the new congressional maps for Illinois were released yesterday afternoon -- and if they become law, Lauren will remain in one of the most competitive districts in the country:
“Democrats could see [a loss] in the 14th Congressional District held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood.”

Look, we’re not afraid of this map. Lauren and our team have proved that we can win tough elections in any scenario -- and we could be facing another uphill battle if these maps become the law of the land.
If you’re reading this email, you know just how important it is that we keep Lauren Underwood’s voice in Congress. She’s the youngest Black woman to ever serve in Congress and does the hard work necessary to advance our shared values.
But it’s safe to say that Kevin McCarthy and the NRCC were overjoyed when they saw the new proposed map for Lauren’s district. They want to replace Lauren with a far-right Trump Republican and put a stop to all the progress we’re making.
And, according to top election analyst Dave Wasserman, Lauren’s seat is “potentially flippable in a good midterm for Rs.”
