Happy Spooky Season, Friend,
We’re about half-way through October, which means it’s almost time for our
favorite holiday of the year! Of course, I’m referring to Nevada Day, the
celebration of our state’s founding and battle born heritage!
Okay, fine, there’s also Halloween. But immediately after you decompress
from that long weekend of tricks, treats, and pumpkin spice-flavored
caffeine, we are going to be holding our biggest annual fundraising event
of the year: [ [link removed] ]Celebrate Progress!
On Wednesday, November 3rd, we’ll be gathering virtually to once again
have a moment of solidarity and commemoration of all Nevadans who have
taken action, organized their communities, and shaped policy to make
Nevada a better place for working families to thrive. And every year, we
take the time to honor several individuals and organizations who truly
went above and beyond.
If you saw Annette and Maria-Teresa’s recent emails, you’ve already met
about half of our honorees so far. [ [link removed] ]You can check out the full list
right here. But for those who want to get to know our distinguished guests
a little better, I’m proud to introduce to you our Rising Progressive
Leader, Voice of Reason, and Progressive Business of Year award winners!
Taylor Patterson
[2]alt_text Our Rising Progressive Leader award is given to those activists or
advocates who punch well above their weight in a very short amount of time
in order to establish themselves as a dominant figure in moving the
progressive mission forward. Taylor Patterson is the Executive Director of
Native Voters Alliance of Nevada and will receive this year’s award! As a
member of the Bishop Paiute Tribe, she leads an organization that promotes
Native American engagement at all levels of the political process. She
continues to fight for recognition of Indigenous people and issues at all
levels. We’re so happy to see the rapid growth of her impact and look
forward to what she’ll do next!

Jeff Gillan
[4]alt_text There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust
the picture. Instead, tune in to the latest segment by Jeff Gillan, our
2021 Voice of Reason honoree! The Voice of Reason is a member of the press
corps who deserves special recognition for their fair-minded, thoughtful
reporting on the issues affecting Nevadans. Jeff is an award-winning
veteran broadcast journalist, with a resume spanning over 30 years, 4
states, and 5 stations. Currently, on KSNV News 3, and frequently leads
segments breaking down political topics for Nevada viewers in a
discerning, entertaining fashion. [ [link removed] ]Check out this example of his

Gaia Flowers
[6]alt_text Our Progressive Business of the Year is one firm that doesn’t need to wake
up and smell the roses; because they already do all the time. Gaia Flowers
is a locally owned and operated flower shop based in Las Vegas, offering
fresh, sustainable products all across the valley. Gaia Flowers supports
local artists, gardeners, nonprofits, and Southern Nevadans who have as
much passion for Mother Earth as they do! The award will be accepted by
proprietor Peter Frigeri, a long time activist and generous supporter of
our work. [ [link removed] ]Take a look at their website here!

opportunity. It’s a moment to come together in unity with our fellow
progressives and honor their achievements! Please help us celebrate the
