DOWN TO THE WIRE
The Budget Battle is coming down to the wire as Democrats’ self-imposed Halloween deadline nears. We’ve come so far, but our fight is far from over.
It’s thanks to us - as progressives - holding the line against the corporatists that Democrats still have a chance to deliver on Biden’s Build Back Better agenda.
We know that if the corporate Democrats prevail and gut the President’s promise to improve the material conditions of the American people, we risk the resurgence of right-wing populism, the loss of Congressional majorities in 2022, and the return of Trump in 2024.
With everything on the line, Our Revolution members are rising up to put corporate Democrats on notice.
In Politico this week, Our Revolution’s Executive Director Joseph Geevarghese warned that any obstructionist Democrat will face electoral consequences: "We are keeping a list to see where people end up - and we are willing to primary people if necessary.”
But we’re not waiting until the next election rolls around. In this edition of The Revolution Report, you’ll read about how our citizen activists are voting with their feet right now by holding rolling protests in Arizona against US Sen. Krysten Sinema and taking over town halls held by US Reps. Josh Gottheimer in New Jersey and Kurt Schrader in Oregon, and more.
Be part of this moment by becoming a recurring donor today. We can leave nothing to chance against the powerful forces trying to derail this historic legislation.

TIME TO DELIVER
Our Revolution and our allies came together Tuesday for a Progressive Town Hall with Bernie and the Congressional Progressive Caucus to make clear to Democratic holdouts and leadership that it’s Time to Deliver on the Budget Bill.
That means real climate action, Medicare expansion, community college, and all of our policies that together will make a profound impact on American life.
As Bernie said: “We cannot fail to deliver for the tens of millions of people whose problems have long been neglected by Congress and by presidents, while the very rich get richer. We are not going to ignore those problems anymore.”
“This isn’t a wishlist - it’s the needs of the working class,” Bernie said, “and the overwhelming majority of the American people are on our side.”

Our Revolution joined with the Worker Power Coalition and Arizona union leaders to kick-off a Pick-up Truck Tour to demand US Sen. Kyrsten Sinema pick up her pen and sign-on to support legislation that puts the interests of working-class voters over her corporate benefactors.
From the Budget Bill to the filibuster to the PRO Act, Sinema consistently “ignores and dismisses her constituents,” Yolanda Bejarano of the Communications Workers of America told Politico. Bejarano said people on the ground in Arizona “want somebody to listen, and the fact that that’s not happening is infuriating. These folks are not strangers to her. They helped get her elected.”
In fact, as budget negotiations are underway, Sinema is jet-setting to Europe and her Arizona offices sit empty.
As Our Revolution national field director Mike Oles - who’s leading the Pickup Truck Tour protests in Phoenix, Tucson, and other cities - told the media: “We did our job electing a Democratic Congress, and now her office is empty, and she’s lying to the people.”

THE PEOPLE VS. FOSSIL FUELS
Our Revolution activists were among thousands gathered at the White House this week for a protest against fossil fuels led by the Indigenous Environmental Network.
Our coalition is not only fighting to end fossil fuel subsidies through the Budget Bill, we’re also calling on President Biden to use his executive power to stop the construction of new petrochemical facilities and pipelines.
To date, hundreds have been arrested for engaging in civil disobedience to demand President Biden declare a Climate Emergency and halt all new fossil fuel projects - which he could do with the stroke of a pen.
If the Biden Administration moves forward with 24 major fossil fuel infrastructure projects that are currently under federal review, it would be the emissions equivalent of adding 400 new coal-fired power plants, according to a new report.

STRIKE FOR IMMIGRANT RIGHTS!
Our Wisconsin Revolution activists on Monday participated in a massive march from Milwaukee’s south side to the federal courthouse in the statewide “Day Without Latinx and Immigrants Strike.”
Activists with Voces de la Frontera organized the strike to demand immigration reform, following a US Senate parliamentarian opinion that key immigration reforms could not be included in the Budget Bill.
Latino essential workers, business owners, and allies took part in the action by not going to work or school and not spending any money.
Ramiro Castillo, who immigrated at 18 and is now a business owner, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: “We show a lot of power in participating in a day without Latinos - look at the pandemic, immigrants were the ones working."

This week, the Congressional Progressive Caucus issued a letter to President Biden urging him to deliver on his campaign pledge to cancel student debt.
“With a single signature, you can improve the economy, create new jobs, transform the lives of 45 million Americans, narrow the racial wealth gap, and maintain the trust of voters,” the letter reads.
US Reps. Ilhan Omar, Cori Bush, Chuy Garcia, and others are calling on the Biden Administration to release an internal memo that shows the President has the executive authority to broadly cancel student debt.
White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain promised six months ago to release the memo, but it has yet to see the light of day.

GOTV RALLY IN MINNESOTA!
Our Revolution Minnesota hosted a Virtual Get Out the Vote Rally for a slate of progressives running for local offices throughout the state.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison - who serves on Our Revolution’s Board - kicked off the event, emphasizing the importance of filling local seats with progressives. “The closest government to the people is local government. If you don’t have a solid progressive base on school boards, city councils, boards of estimation and taxation, and parks boards - then you don’t have a solid foundation,” Ellison said.
Jeremiah Ellison, who is running for re-election as Minneapolis City Council-Ward 5, said “when we experience change, it doesn’t happen in this clean, orderly way because there are certain people who benefit from things the way they are.”
But, he said, there’s a new sense of urgency in the people, especially after the murder of George Floyd, that is key to overcoming entrenched power to realize change at the local level.
Join Our Revolution Minnesota to knock on doors for these candidates on Sunday, October 24th!

Our Revolution has endorsed Elizabeth Santos in her bid for re-election as the District 1 Trustee for the Houston Independent School District (HISD). Santos has been a strong voice for progressives since her election with the support of Our Revolution members in Texas. She has easily earned another term with her support for the local mask mandate (in defiance of Texas’ governor), her efforts to fend off privatization and increase teacher salaries, and her leadership in a tough fight to provide the largest raise to support staff in HISD history.

Our Revolution has endorsed two progressive champions for City Council in Jersey City, NJ: Joel Brooks and James Solomon!
Solomon made Jersey City the first in the state to pass a resolution calling on city and state pension funds to divest from fossil fuels. He also passed legislation to regulate Airbnb to make downtown more livable and affordable. Now he is running for re-election against a candidate put up by the local party machine.
Joel is a former Bernie campaign organizer who is fighting for tenants’ rights, fair housing, rent control protections, and long-term solutions to school funding. He has pledged to reject any campaign contributions from real estate developers and corporate landlords.
Join us each Saturday as we knock doors for Joel and on Tuesday 10/26 for a Get Out the Vote Rally for James. Click here to RSVP!

Our Revolution endorsed Greenbelt Mayor Colin Byrd for re-election. Colin is a member of Our Revolution Maryland and a powerful voice at our local events in support of a $15 minimum wage, Medicare for All, and the Green New Deal.
As Mayor, he successfully urged the City Council to adopt a Medicare for All resolution and led the effort to make Greenbelt the first city in the United States to take up a referendum on reparations (residents will also vote on this measure in November). He backed successful efforts to pass emergency rental assistance as well as a temporary ban on evictions.
