CAGW is making a difference! Here’s how.

Dear John,

Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) last week released Prime Cuts 2021, the latest edition our annual compilation of waste-cutting recommendations that would pare down the bloated federal government by eliminating unnecessary, obsolete, and ineffective federal programs.

Prime Cuts has been published annually by CAGW since 1993 and addresses every area of government spending.  This year’s edition includes 580 recommendations from bipartisan and nonpartisan sources that would save taxpayers $370.1 billion in the first year and $4 trillion over five years.  Since CAGW’s inception in 1984, implementation of our waste-cutting recommendations has helped to save taxpayers more than $2.3 trillion.

Our commonsense waste cuts include proposals like ending the outdated sugar, dairy, and peanut subsidies and reducing Medicare improper payments.  There are no “sacred cows” in Prime Cuts 2021, including the Department of Defense.  Reforms like eliminating congressional earmarks for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter would save taxpayers billions and free up funds to go to genuine national security priorities.

John, these waste-cutting recommendations have never been more needed or important.  The only way to rein in excessive and inefficient government spending is for elected officials to reduce waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement.

Prime Cuts 2021 is required reading for taxpayers, the media, and legislators since it provides a roadmap for the bold action needed to restore fiscal sanity and help prevent a fiscal disaster.

You can read the 2021 Prime Cuts Summary and search the online database of waste-slashing recommendations here.

Sincerely,

Paul Sullivan
