We’re putting Wall Street Democrats on notice.

John,

The Social Security 2100 Act is a bill to expand Social Security―but it also puts our Social Security system on firm financial footing for the next century, removing Wall Street’s key attack on America’s most successful anti-poverty program (that the only way to “save” Social Security is to cut it).

That’s why, even with 209 Democratic co-sponsors, some members of the Wall Street wing of the Democratic Party are still trying to bottle it up in committee and prevent members from going on the record about Social Security.

We’re putting Wall Street Democrats on notice. Their ringleader on the House Ways & Means Committee is Rep. Stephanie Murphy. She’s siding with Republicans to block a vote on the 2100 Act. So we’re putting this on a truck, and driving it around her district:

Truck sign:

Chip in $6 TODAY to turn up the pressure on Wall Street Democrats!

Trucks aren’t cheap. But we need to make it clear: People power can beat Wall Street power.

Here are the facts:

Over the years, Social Security has occasionally projected modest shortfalls. And, members of Congress have made tweaks here and there to ensure that Social Security keeps its promise to deliver our earned benefits in full and on time.

But, over the last 30 years, as wages have stagnated and as an even larger share of wealth and income has gone to the top 1%, Social Security hasn’t received the payroll contributions it needs. Now, the Social Security Administration is projecting a 20% cut to our Social Security benefits starting in 2035 if nothing is done to address this shortfall.

We got Rep. Murphy’s attention when we sent a truck to her district a few weeks ago. But it will take more pressure to change her mind.

Donate $6 or more today to send this message to Florida’s 7th Congressional District and tell Rep. Stephanie Murphy to stop obstructing the critical Social Security 2100 Act.

Right now, we only pay into Social Security on the first $132,900 of our earned income. So who would be opposed to the top 1% paying their fair share? Wall Street, plain and simple.

It’s time that Representative Murphy listen to her constituents and the millions of Americans who rely on Social Security every single day.

Thank you,

Alex Lawson
