Breaking: Save Women’s Sports Bill Passes House Floor and Heads to the Senate!

Today, the Save Women’s Sports bill (H.B. 25) passed the House Floor with a 76-54 vote. Texas State Representative Valoree Swanson filed H.B. 25 to level the playing field and keep biological boys from unfairly competing in girl’s sports.

Jonathan Saenz, President and Attorney for Texas Values, released the following statement:

“Texans have spoken and the legislators have heard their constituents. The House passed the Save Women’s Sports bill today. We are happy to finally see this day come after all of our hard work and continued efforts to protect girls. We care about Texas girls and we are ready to watch this bill cross the finish line in the Senate. Girls will be protected and able to freely play sports without fear of boys stealing their athletic opportunities in Texas.”

The next step for H.B. 25 will be the Texas Senate where they need to schedule the bill to a Committee where it will be heard. Nationally, 37 states have proposed similar bills and 8 have signed it into law-- most recently in Florida. Texas would become the 10th state.

Voting On Texas Proposition 3: Religious Freedom

Texas Proposition 3, the Prohibition on Limiting Religious Services or Organizations Amendment, passed the Texas Legislature with bipartisan support as Senate Joint Resolution 27. Prop. 3 is on the ballot November 2, 2021 as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment proposal.

This proposed constitutional amendment, if passed, would protect churches and places of worship, as well as religious organizations, from being shut down by the government such as happened during the initial period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pro-Life Victory! 5th Circuit Court leaves Texas Heartbeat Law In Effect

On October 8th, the Federal Court of Appeals granted a temporary “stay,” which allowed Texas Heartbeat law to go back into full enforcement and effect; while the appeals court considered preliminary matters and emergency requests by Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, on appeal.

Last night, the 5th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals granted a lengthier “stay,” which allows the Texas Heartbeat law to continue to be enforced while the judicial process continues.

Jonathan Saenz, President and Attorney at Texas Values released the following statement:

“The Heartbeat Law prevails again! Nearly 6,600 babies have been saved and we’re grateful even more babies will survive as a result of the 5th Circuit’s decision.”
