Does Facebook care about our democracy?
They’ve been claiming to... Given the company’s grand promises in the past to curb threats to our democracy.
Yet, the platform’s recent policy changes to exempt politicians from its Community Standards and fact-checking program show nothing but a blatant disregard for the civil and human rights of all Americans.
They’ve repeatedly developed and released products and policies that cause harm to people and communities across our nation—outcomes that could have been avoided, if only they would prioritize our democracy as seriously as their monetary goals.
We’ve seen the detrimental effects of when misinformation and harmful distortions by politicians go unchecked. It’s clear Facebook has only one choice here: To change course.
Undermining our democracy? Not on our watch! Urge Facebook to protect our democracy from the reckless spread of disinformation!
